Guidelines & Application Process
In 2017, Cameron LNG will continue its support of higher education
by offering a scholarship program to students who are high school/secondary school seniors.
The Cameron LNG Scholarship is a competitive program offered to students in Cameron Parish
Scholarships are offered for students that will continue their education at a trade, technical or
college or four-year college or university.
Cameron LNG will award scholarships to selected recipients planning to pursue both 2 and 4-year
- Must be graduating from high school/secondary school (must be in
their final year of high school/secondary school at time of
- Must demonstrate potential for college-level coursework as applicable.
- Must be planning to enter an accredited post-secondary education
program, part- or full-time, for the entire academic year immediately
Awards and Selection Process
How are winners selected?
A selection committee comprised of Cameron LNG’s employees &
Community Advisory Committee members will evaluate the applications and
select the finalists.
All finalists will be
required to interview in person. Scheduling options will be provided to
the finalists in early April.
How can the award be used?
The scholarship funds may be used for undergraduate-level education
expenses, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and required
equipment. Awards may be given to students planning to pursue a trade
such as computer programming, auto mechanics, welding, pipe-fitting or
any other profession, at an accredited vocation/technical school.
When will awards be paid?
Upon receipt of a copy of the recipient’s fall class schedule and fee
receipt, the award will be mailed to the student’s permanent home
address by September 1st.
Students: How to apply?
- Carefully complete the application, listing all pertinent facts relating to your personal and academic achievements.
- Applications will be online. A link to the application will be
posted on the Cameron Parish School’s website and provided to your
school counselor’s office.
Write an essay between 300 and 500 words using the following prompt: “You step outside and find a lottery ticket on the
ground that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?”
- Two applicant appraisals are required: one from a counselor,
advisor, instructor, or coach; the other from someone in the community
that is not a relative, (i.e. work supervisor, church leader, or
